Oral Medication for Pets

Some useful oral medications to keep on hand:

Be sure to check the expiry date often- old medications can break down into harmful substances!

Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)
Kaopectate
Electrolyte solution (unflavored Pedialyte®)
Acetaminophen (Tylenol) for dogs only!
Canned pumpkin (for constipation)
Activated charcoal (50g/250mL)

Be sure you have given the full course of an oral antibiotic as prescribed by your veterinarian. If you have antibiotic pills or capsules left over, it usually means your pet has not received the doses as prescribed. Discard unused antibiotics. Using them later without specific directions from your veterinarian could cause more harm than good.

Remember:
Consult a veterinarian before giving your companion animal these or
any other medications.
